End of the School Year Treats

For the end of the year, I baked more cupcakes than I can count. One of my 1st graders said that I should quit being a music teacher and become a baker! I also made these Peanut Butter Chocolate Bars to give to the principal,secretaries, custodians, and aides:















I snuck some crumbs for myself as well! They were definitely a hit!

Strawberry Season!

I can't wait to go strawberry picking next week when school gets out. And to give my friend's baby this strawberry ensemble birthday gift:















I found the pattern for the booties here and sewed some matching flowers onto a tank top. And the basket of strawberries was inspired by this pattern on Ravelry.

Butterfly Garden Mobile

My friend's baby shower was this weekend. Months ago, I grilled her about the colors/theme she chose for the baby's room so I could make the perfect gift. I combined the butterfly pattern from Charmed Yarn and the Branch Mobile from Amigurumi Two, Crocheted Toys for Me, You and Baby Too by Ana Paula Rimoli and came up with this mobile to match the crib set:




















Everyone oohed and aahed when Michelle opened her gift from me. It was nice to know that my work was appreciated! She even saved the cute chain and flower that I used to package the gift:

Lefton Miss Priss?

I bought this teapot and salt and pepper shakers at a flea market last week for $10 in hopes that they were actually the real thing. There are no stickers on the bottom but the teapot is stamped "1516-4CUP" and the salt and peppers shakers both read "1511" on the bottom. After reading some Ebay listings for the "real McCoys," I'm confident that I made a good investment!




















I love the way they look on the pink handmade doily that I purchased at the flea market today. I couldn't bring myself to get a boring white one. Plus the pink matches my bouquet of peonies from my sister's wedding!

Vintage Wedding Flowers

Just wanted to share some vintage flair from my sister's wedding last night! I found this hairpiece at the flea market for $3 last fall. I put it in a plastic bag with a dryer sheet to get rid of the musty smell - it worked wonders!















You can kind of see how it looked in my hair in this picture with the beautiful bride and my new favorite brother! Although I don't really know what else was going on here...

Rainy Day Blues

No flea market today! So I headed down the road to the antique(junk) furniture barn run by the nice old man with the bug eye glasses who will sell you anything for $10 if you're a cute female. It's really hit or miss, but today's trip was definitely a hit after finding these Ball jars with milk glass lids. Can you guess which color I picked up?













I was a little nervous to ask about the cost of these beauties, as my favorite old man was no where to be found. But when I asked the lady for the price, she replied that they were only $2 each! I only got the blue one (of course) but I'm so tempted to go back and buy the whole lot.













And she even said that she would go down to $25 for the 3 lily of the valley teacups and 8 tea saucers. What do you think Mommy?

The Little Mermaid

My co-worker asked me to crochet a mermaid for her granddaughter and I told her that it would be impossible to find a pattern. Thank goodness for Ravelry, because I was able to find this adorable little mermaid pattern. I had to start working on it the minute I saw it. I added a couple extra rows to the tail, but I think she came out amazing!




















Now if I only I could be swimming in tropical waters like her right now!
